There is always something special about receiving a parcel. I have such clear memories of care packages from my grandmother in Scotland, homemade toffee, local comic books (Oor Wullie and The Broons) and hand-sewn and knitted clothes for us and our dolls, all sturdily boxed, wrapped in brown paper and secured with masterful knots. A magnificent hand-knitted lace christening shawl when my younger brother was born…
We wrap our linens in plain tissue, and tie with ribbon, a labour of love. Bows are tied just so, for our own satisfaction as well as our customers’.
We have had exactly two complaints that we should wrap in plastic. I forgive them.
