Meet Minette Rushing

We love getting to know our customers are and how they use our linens in their everyday life. We were flattered when we were tagged on Instagram by the talented cake designer Minette Rushing (have you seen her creations!?), who wears our pinafores with her logo embroidered on them. 

Since Minette founded Minette Rushing Cakes over twenty years ago, she has been featured in major publications, like Brides Magazine, The Knot, Style Me Pretty and Martha Stewart Weddings. 

Rough Linen (RL): Hi Minette! Thanks for taking the time to meet with us, we know you’re busy!  Please tell us a little about yourself.

Minette Rushing (MR): I am a luxury cake designer and educator in Savannah, Georgia, and travel often for clients. I began dabbling and learning when my children were little, running a cottage shop when it fit in with motherhood.  Once my children graduated high school, I opened a storefront and went full time.  

RL: What do you enjoy most about what you do?

MR: My favorite part of my job is the relationships I develop with clients and with colleagues. 

RL: When did you first discover Rough Linen? What do you like most about the Rough Linen products? 

MR: I discovered Rough Linen on Instagram.  I LOVE my pinafore for a million reasons.  It is a high-quality linen that handles the messiness of my job well.  I love that it is made in the USA. I love how well it fits, the pockets, the style and how comfortable it is to wear.  I feel sharp and professional when I am on-site setting up a cake. The pinafore is the perfect match for my brand as well.  I found my Chef's coat a bit too serious but the Rough Linen pinafore is the perfect mix of professional and pretty. And let me just say again..it is so comfortable! 

RL: Could you please share a simple cake recipe with our Rough Linen community?
